A Beyond Radio presenter has written a good yarn - quite literally! - while helping raise funds for a Lancaster youth charity.
Beth Pipe and her husband Steve have released their latest book 'Cumbrian Yarn - The Wool that Binds the County'.
The book is a history of yarn in Cumbria, how yarn and wool production and sheep rearing have been part of Cumbria's history for centuries and their importance today with the revival of interest in knitting and other related crafts.
Beth is the host of Beth Across the Bay on Saturday afternoons on Beyond Radio.
This is the latest in a series of books by the Pipes (below), who have also written '50 Gems of Cumbria', 'Secret Keswick' and 'The Rivers of Cumbria', to name just a few.
With the book's release, Beth also decided to help Escape2Make, the Lancaster-based charity that runs activities for local young people, at the book launch held at Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal.
An Escape2Make spokesperson said: "We want to say a big BIG BIIIG THANK YOU to Beth Pipe for using her book launch for 'Cumbrian Yarn' to help raise funds for Escape2Make!
"Beth is an absolute local legend, who wears many hats - LD whiz, radio DJ, event compere/presenter, voiceover artist, change management consultant, and many other things!
"Cumbrian Yarn is one of over 10 non-fiction books, written by Beth and her husband, Steve.
"Their books celebrate the rich history and heritage of the local area and are well worth a read, so make sure to check them out HERE.
"Thanks again, Beth! You're an incredible part of our wonderful community!"
