CCTV helping police as they investigate spate of Lancaster shed and garage break-ins

CCTV has shown people acting suspiciously "obviously scouting up and down driveways" as police investigate a spate of shed and garage burglaries in Lancaster.

There has been a recurring series of overnight burglaries, including over the past week.

During the night of February 17 and 18, a shed and garage were broken into in the Wyresdale Road area, and a bike, bike wheel and meat stolen.

Then overnight on February 18 and 19, there was a shed break-in on Dorrington Road. The lock was removed, items scattered across the back garden, and Makita drill sets taken.

Det Insp Adie Knowles, speaking on his regular 'Beyond the Beat' on Beyond Radio, called for residents to "remain vigilant", ensure any valuable items including bicycles kept in sheds and garages were chained, and call police with any information.

He said the police had already had "information sent to us in terms of CCTV footage of suspicious activity, people obviously scouting around up and down driveways, and as soon as they get seen on camera they are off".

If you have any information, please call police on 101, or the confidential freephone Crimestoppers number on 0800 555111. If you see a crime in progress, call 999.
