The Green party will have a candidate standing in every Lancashire County Council division for the first time in its history.
The 84 divisions include 10 seats in the Lancaster District, to be contested when the county goes to the polls on May 1.
The North Lancashire Green Party said that they were targeting "at least five other seats", as well as holding the Lancaster Central seat occupied by Gina Dowding for the last 12 years.
“North Lancashire Green Party has grown from strength to strength over the last two decades, and it is clear that people like both our policies, and the way we as Greens approach our responsibilities as elected members," said County Councillor Dowding, who also sits on Lancaster City Council, where the Greens are the largest group.
"We listen to our residents, we take action, and we push council to introduce common sense initiatives to improve people’s quality of life."
Zack Polanski, deputy leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, also visited Lancaster earlier this month.
County Councillor Dowding said he "was really impressed with the work we are doing in Lancaster to get more council houses built, increase the energy efficiency of both private and social housing, and to get more renewable energy generation built in this district.
"These things not only help the council save money, but help residents with cost of living," she said.
“There are already some measures under way to retrofit older houses but this is an area that must be scaled up at pace, in order to tackle the climate crisis and make our homes fit for the future.
“As more people realise the Greens are a positive and credible alternative to the two establishment parties, I’m really looking forward to working with a bigger team of Green Party councillors on the County Council after May 1."
Mr Polanski said: "I’m really proud to see Greens building council homes.
"Another example of how Greens are getting things done in their local area as the party of environmental, social, racial and economic justice."
Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat and Reform UK candidates will also be contesting county council seats across the Lancaster and Morecambe District. Going into the election, the county council is Conservative-led.
