
The Green Party now has 23 Lancaster city councillors after winning a by-election in the city.
Andrew Robert Otway was elected in Scotforth East ward after the by-election on Thursday.
The seat was previously held by Labour until Sophie Maddocks resigned for personal reasons over the summer.

The Greens are the largest group on the council with 23 councillors. Labour has 21, there are seven Liberal Democrats, five Conservatives, three Morecambe Bay Independents and two independents.
Councillor Otway is a Scotforth resident who worked at Lancaster Central Library for 30 years before his recent retirement.
He said: "Thank you to all the voters of Scotforth East and to everyone who took the time to chat to about local issues. I have lots of ideas and casework to follow up, and am looking forward to making a difference as one of the councillors for this lovely, friendly part of Lancaster."
Councillor Phillip Black, of Labour, is the council leader having been elected in 2023 for a period of two years.
There is no party in overall control of the council, whose cabinet is made up of a coalition of Labour, Green and Liberal Democrat councillors.
