A 71-year-old hiker from Morecambe will be heading out on a 900-mile walk from John O'Groats to Land's End in memory of a close friend.
Gary Taylor will be taking on the famous walk across the length of Great Britain in tribute to John Manley and to raise money for St John's Hospice.
Gary will be joined by his wife Diane, their Cockapoo dog Archie and John's wife Adele.
Adele will be driving them in a campervan as his support vehicle.
They also plan to scatter some of John's ashes at John O'Groats and Land's End.
John, who went on many walking trips with Gary, was cared for by the Lancaster hospice before his death in 2024.
Gary visited the Beyond Radio studio this week to talk about the fundraising walk.

"The hospice staff were very caring and I went to visit him quite often," said Gary.
"I saw the great work they do there and the way they care for people with dignity.

"We lost John on May 18 last year so we're setting off on May 18 this year, in memory of John.
"Adele spoke to her son Miles and asked what do you think, if we took some of John's ashes and scattered them at John O'Groats and Land's End as a memorial to John.
"John and I were great walkers. We walked thousands of miles over the years and we often talked about the big one, John O'Groats to Land's End, but we were busy and there was never the time."

The team will begin at John O'Groats, the north eastern tip of Scotland, and hope to get to Land's End in western Cornwall within 38 days.
He is aiming to walk up to 26 miles a day.

Gary and the team are aiming to raise £13,500, the cost of St John's Hospice services for a day.
The hospice provides end of life care for people across North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
