Lancaster MP to speak at 'Enough is Enough' meeting on the cost of living crisis

Guest speakers including the Lancaster MP will gather at a public meeting at Lancaster Town Hall to discuss growing fears about the cost of living crisis and support workers in dispute or on strike.

The meeting is called 'Enough is Enough' and will take place on Wednesday, September 14, at 7pm.

Speakers will include Cat Smith, Labour MP for Lancaster, Councillor Caroline Jackson, Green leader of Lancaster City Council, environmentalists and representatives from trade unions, politics, rail unions, Royal Mail, education, care workers,

Eugene Doherty, trades council president, said: "We have called this public meeting because we want to show solidarity to all workers who are fighting back for a fair share of the wealth and a wage they can live off.

"We are saying 'enough is enough. Workers demand our fair share and wages so that we can enjoy life."

Other speakers will include Daren Ireland, RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers) North West organiser, James Attwood, CWU (Communication Workers Union) rep Lancaster Royal Mail, Carl Webb, Regional Secretary CWU NW Region, Joanne Thompson, OCS rep for UNISON Care, Siobhan Collingwood, NEU (National Education Union) national executive, Julie Hearn, UCU (University and College Union) Lancaster University and Elizabeth Mills from Morecambe Bay Extinction Rebellion
