Police say they are cracking down on e-scooter and motorbike joyriding on the cycle track after a spate of incidents in the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
Officers have made around 15 arrests after a spate of 'low-powered' motorbikes were stolen, used and dumped in the Morecambe and Lancaster area over the past few months.
Police have also appealed for information about one attempted theft and two thefts of motorbikes in the local area earlier this month.
Detective Inspector Adie Knowles, of Lancaster Police, spoke about the "trend" when he appeared on his regular 'Beyond the Beat' on Beyond Radio on Tuesday.
Det Insp Knowles said there was an issue with "e-scooters bombing around, people not wearing helmets, going down the cycle track, riding them dangerously at a risk to the wider community".
He said this had been going on for "quite a few months now" and that some of the thefts had been "not far from the cycle track".
"It's an issue we attempt to tackle and the neighbourhood policing team will send staff down onto the cycle track on regular basis as it's a hotspot for issues," he said.
Det Insp Knowles asked the public to contact police if you see someone riding dangerously on an e-scooter without a helmet on.
At around 4.45am on Marshaw Road, Lancaster, on June 17, there was an attempt to cut a security chain and steal a motorbike.
A Honda 125 bike was stolen at around 3.25am on the same day from Blea Tarn Place in Morecambe, and another bike was stolen from Cartmel Place in Morecambe between midnight and 7am.
And if you have any information about the incidents of motorbike theft and attempted theft, please contact police on 101 or call Crime Stoppers on 08000 555111.
