Morecambe Football Club has asked for permission to hold up to four outdoor music concerts a year at the stadium.
The Shrimps have applied to Lancaster City Council to change a condition which limits use of the Mazuma Mobile Stadium pitch to sporting events only.
The club wants to build on their only previous outdoor concerts at the football ground in May 2023, when thousands watched West End musical stars pay tribute to Abba and Queen over two nights.
Feedback from concert-goers at the time was extremely positive, with posts on the club's Facebook page describing the weekend as "absolutely brilliant" and "fantastic".
The council approved a variation on planning permission, in 2023, to allow these events to go ahead.
A recent letter written on behalf of the club to the council's planning department, publicly available on the Lancaster City Council website, says "the proposal has the potential to encourage more visitors and overnight stays within the district, increasing inward investment and expenditure, and raising the profile of both the town and the club".
The letter, dated February 20, says that attendances at the Abba and Queen nights in 2023 were "735 and 1047 people respectively".
"The events were operated by the club in a similar manner to normal first team matchdays in terms of security, safety and logistics and thus a similar number of staff were also present on site," it says.
"Both events finished at 10pm.
"Morecambe Football Club now wish to build upon the success of 2023’s events by varying condition 34 further.
"They wish to seek consent to use the Mazuma Stadium for up to four outdoor music events per calendar year.
"No event shall exceed four consecutive days. In total, the events will total no more than 12 days per annum."
The club has suggested that "no event (including sound checks) will start before 9am or finish after 11pm."
"Given the scale of the events proposed and their potential frequency, it is considered that they will continue to attract a similar level of attendance (circa 1,000) per night.
"This is well below the average attendance of first team home games.
"It is likely that the artists who will perform at these events will continue to be ‘tribute acts’ and as such will attract a diverse range of patrons.
"However, it is likely that tickets will be targeted at the family entertainment sector.

"It is considered that the club has more than enough capacity and expertise to manage such events, given that they would attract around half of the normal football match attendance and therefore protocols such as stewarding, ticket checks and signposting are all well practised."
A noise assessment has been carried out, and the letter goes on to say: "It is understood that neither the club nor Lancaster City Council received any complaints from local residents in respect of noise on the days of the music events in 2023.
"As you will be aware, Morecambe Football Club, in common with many professional sports clubs are exploring ways in which to diversify their income streams to aid their long-term sustainability.
"Its increased usage for outdoor music events... makes sense in both planning and commercial terms, given its availability and the infrastructure which supports its operation."
Lancaster City Council will make a decision on whether to approve the application, in due course.
