Morecambe lifeboat crew have attended their 80th call-out of a busy 2024.
The RNLI team responded to reports of an emergency position-indicating radio beacon being activated close to the River Lune, on Sunday December 15 at 2.12pm.
The inshore rescue lifeboat and hovercraft launched and awaited further instruction from the coastguard, but were stood down.
A search of the area by the coastguard and other RNLI teams found nothing, and it ended at 10.31pm.
The Morecambe crew was also called out on Saturday December 7, on the weekend of Storm Darragh.
They were called at 4.04pm to reports of a person waving frantically on a vessel within close proximity to Morecambe Promenade.
Due to the severe weather warning, volunteers attended on foot and assessed the situation.
They found that it was a large plastic sheet flapping in the wind.
A Morecambe lifeboat crew spokesperson said: "It has been a busy year for our RNLI volunteers and we would like to remind you that if you see or suspect someone in danger within the Morecambe Bay Area and the River Lune please dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
