A scheme to help bring Morecambe back into bloom is well under way.
Up to six flowerbeds will be planted around Morecambe as part of a bid to bring back spring planting.
The Bloom Together project is a joint venture between Morecambe Town Council and Lancaster City Council.
The town council has been recruiting a team of around 20 volunteers to help with the multi-year project and said they'd had a "really positive" response.
The volunteers will learn from and work alongside Morecambe Town Council's team of Town Rangers to plant up six flowerbeds around Morecambe.
The Rangers will provide free-to-attend green skills workshops focusing on sustainable horticultural practice.
The first planting session is due to take place on April 7.
The councils are aiming to expand the project to include more flowerbeds over the next two years.
As part of its budget for 2025/26, Morecambe Town Council announced it wanted to bring back spring planting to Morecambe.
The council employs a team of Town Rangers who clear weeds on the streets and alleys around the town and wider District.
Morecambe Town Council is contracted by Lancashire County Council to provide weeding services across the whole of the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
In 2016 Lancaster City Council decided to stop planting flower beds with spring blooms, as a cost-cutting measure.
Instead, the city council temporarily introduced an 'Adopt a Flower Bed' scheme where residents could fund the cost of the planting.
