Tributes have been paid to a city councillor who was a "champion of Morecambe".
Councillor Merv Evans, an independent Lancaster city councillor for Westgate in Morecambe, died on August 12 aged 53.
There was a minute's silence in memory of Councillor Evans at Morecambe Cricket Club's game at the weekend.
A tribute on the Morecambe Cricket Club Facebook page said: "Morecambe CC are sorry to hear of the passing of Merv Evans.
"Husband, father, friend, player, scorer, councillor and legend, RIP Merv. From all at MCC."
Councillor Evans was elected onto the city council in 2019 and was a former member of the cabinet, with responsibility for economic recovery and resilience.
A Lancaster City Council spokesperson said he was a "staunch advocate for his home town of Morecambe".
Councillor Joyce Pritchard, mayor of Lancaster, said: “Merv was a real champion for Morecambe, its residents and businesses.
“Along with everyone at Lancaster City Council I would like to pay tribute for his work over the years and send my deep condolences to the family.”
Councillor Erica Lewis, a Labour city councillor, said he was "a man who loved his community and his cricket and just wanted to serve".
"Merv was always loyal and supportive and worked hard to serve his residents and the district," she said.
Details of funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
