Bare Cricket Club will field two new teams for the 2025 season, enhancing their commitment to community engagement and talent development.
Bare Sultans, a community and cricket team associated with The Sultan of Lancaster Experience will represent the club this season, as will the Lancaster University Cricket development squad, which will compete as Bare’s third XI.
Both the Bare Sultans and the Bare third XI will compete in Division 5 of the Westmorland Cricket League alongside their existing two hardball teams and the women’s and girls’ softball teams.
As part of the collaboration with Lancaster University, the university will use Bare’s grounds for their British University and College Sports (BUCs) competitive fixtures, creating further opportunities for students to engage in cricket within the community.
The Sultan of Lancaster Experience will also serve as the new shirt sponsor for all their hardball teams in the 2025 season.
Martin Peters, Chairman of Bare Cricket Club, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for Bare Cricket Club to fulfil its aim of providing more opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to play cricket together.
‘’Cricket is about more than just the game, and we look forward to embracing the wonderful sense of community that the Sultans embody, as well as the exuberant enthusiasm of the university students.
‘’We wish both teams the very best for the season ahead. We'd also like to thank Sal and the team at the Sultan of Lancaster Experience for backing us as our new shirt sponsor for 2025.
‘’This again shows their desire to be an active part of the community and help provide better opportunities to play cricket."
