Coastal boxing club in Morecambe hold final show of season

Billy Thompson (left) on his way to victory on Saturday

Coastal Amateur Boxing in Morecambe closed out their season with a show of competitive bouts featuring young boxers from around the UK.

The show, held at Red Rose Community Centre in Morecambe on Saturday night, opened with a series of 'skills' contests where the judges do not score.

Filip Danielewski of Lancaster Boxing Club, and Coastal's Edward Mason and Isaac Hermi, were all in action.

In the scored bouts, Bob Howard of Coastal put in a spirited effort but lost via unanimous decision to Eddie Robshaw of United ABC.

Billy Thompson then battled Jack Waddington of Tyldesley Centurions, using his height and reach to good effect in the first two rounds.

Thompson boxed particularly well in Round 2, scoring with a series of snappy blows to impress the judges.

Billy was caught with his hands low in the final round, having to take a standing count. But this success for Waddington wasn't enough to turn the fight in his favour, as the Coastal boxer was given a deserved unanimous decision.

In the final bout of the evening, Coastal's Declan Wakeman (below, left) faced a skilled operator in Dylan Cain from Box Smart Elite.

Although Declan was always in the fight and landed his fair share of clean shots, Cain was the busier and more accurate, winning a unanimous decision.

Also on the show, Alfie Richards of Flookburgh defeated Oliver Harrison of Larches and Sawick, and Chasey Jones of Leigh beat Oscar Rowlendson of Flookburgh.
