Former Kendal boss confirmed as new Lancaster City manager

Jimmy Marshall

Lancaster City Football Club have announced the appointment of Kendal Town boss Jimmy Marshall as their new manager.

Marshall joined the Mintcakes in May 2022 after the club were relegated from the Northern Premier League and after stability in his first season, missed out on the play-offs in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division on goal difference.

After Kendal’s lateral move to the Northern League at the start of this season, they are once again on the hunt for a play-off place.

In 2023, Marshall led Milnthorpe Corinthians to the West Lancashire Division One title, before joining Kendal.

He said on his new role: "This is an opportunity I can't turn down. This is my hometown club, I'm a Lancaster lad and It's a job which really excites me.

‘’I already know a few of the players and a lot of supporters and I am really proud and pleased to be offered the job and looking forward to getting started"

His backroom staff will consist of assistant manager Gav Clark, while coach Lee Marshall will also be joining him at Giant Axe.

Lancaster City are currently 16th in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, four points above the relegation zone with five games of the season remaining.
