Rugby league club Heysham Atoms now know their men's team’s fixtures for the upcoming 2024 season.

The league season gets under way on March 9 with a trip to Ashton Bears.

The Atoms' first two games are away from home, which means they will have to wait a little while longer to get their first taste of competitive rugby league at their new ground King George’s Playing Fields.

That game is on April 13, when Latchford Albion will pay them a visit.

The club will play in the North West Men’s Premier Division, made up of nine teams, in which they finished second from bottom last season.

The team have a new head coach in Steve Woodburn, who has years of experience coaching in both rugby codes.

In rugby league, Woodburn has had spells at Blackpool Scorpions, Blackpool Sea Eagles, Millom, England Students and England Lionhearts, with whom he won the Four Nations Championship.

In rugby union, he has coached Millom, Fleetwood and Thornton, his previous role before joining ‘the Atoms’ in December.
