Morecambe boxer Isaac Lowe was beaten by Lee McGregor on the Tyson Fury-Oleksandr Usyk undercard.
Lowe fought bravely but was defeated clearly on points after 10 rounds by the Scot in an absorbing brawl in Riyadh.
The two men put on an all action battle for the WBC International Title but McGregor was in control for most of it.
McGregor, from Edinburgh, had the advantages in height, speed and power and made them pay as he landed clean shots from range early on.
The Scot didn't have it all his own way though as 'The Westgate Warrior' forced the pace and scored with his own right handers to the chin.
There were plenty of close quarters exchanges and during one of them, Lowe was cut in Round 5 from a clash of heads, McGregor being warned by the referee.
The sharp-shooting McGregor then opened another cut over Lowe's other eye.
Lowe bravely came forward and had some success but was being picked off by the better punches.
But then in Round 9, McGregor suddenly looked tired as Lowe began to land more consistently.
Isaac, though, had a point deducted by the referee for his gumshield coming out repeatedly and this seemed to slow his momentum just as he was having his best period.
At the start of Round 10, cornerman Bob Howard told Lowe he needed a knockout, and he responded with urgency, only for his gumshield to come loose again leading to another point deduction.
The exhausted 'Lightning' Lee was clinging on at times as Lowe fired hooks to head and body in a strong finish.
But with both men bleeding, the final bell sounded to end a terrific scrap.
The judges scored it 96-92, 97-91, 97-91 for McGregor.
Former Commonwealth and WBC International Champ Lowe now has 25 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats from 31 fights.
McGregor improves to 15 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat in 17.
