A Lancaster City player will compete in a brand new national televised football competition alongside a host of former football stars and influencers.

Dolly Blues midfielder Brayden Shaw was picked up in the draft for the new UK Baller League  – a six a side indoor football competition with the first UK season taking place at the Copper Box Arena in London. The whole tournament will be broadcast live on Sky Sports on Monday nights from March 24.

The influencer-led league - headlined by KSI for the UK version - sees former Premier League players, futsal players and celebrities face one another in 12 teams to win the Baller League.

The Baller League began in Germany, created by entrepreneur Felix Starck and aided by German football stars Mats Hummels and Lukas Podolski.

Brayden is part of the Wembley Rangers AFC squad, managed by former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright, and current England Lioness, Chloe Kelly.

Luis Figo, John Terry, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Micah Richards are among the team managers, in addition to social media influencers including Angry Ginge, Wedgeman Simon and Tobi from The Sidemen, and the musician Dave.

Each team has 12 players to chose from - selected in a Ballers League draft earlier this week - with halves that are 15 minutes long. But there is a huge twist to the regular six-a-side rules.

In the final three minutes of each half, the teams are reduced to three players per side. Goalkeepers are also not allowed to use their hands, while long-range goals count as double.

The nights will be hosted by Chunkz and Olivia Buzaglo.

The competition begins on March 24, with the top four teams taking part in the semi-finals and final to determine the season's winner.
