Lancaster City conceded at the death as they drew for the fourth time in a row in the Northern Premier League.
Matlock Town left it late to grab a draw and head back to Derbyshire with a share of the spoils.
The game started off slowly for both sides, Lancaster City figuring out the best way to attack a Matlock side still locking their wounds from their heavy defeat on Tuesday. Pressure from both sides came but with no real chances to shout about. Charlie Bailey getting two efforts on the edge of the box blocked followed by a trio of corners from the visitors.
On 22 minutes, Connor O'Grady made a rash challenge on Charlie Bailey. The referee made no hesitation in sending the Matlock player off, meaning the visitors would be playing with a man own for almost 70 minutes.
Lancaster City toiled away, happy to keep the ball whilst Matlock defended admirably. As the first half went off the chances started to come. Jacob Holland-Wilkinson saw an effort cleared off the line before Tom Kilifin saw an effort go just wide.
Holland-Wilkinson and Dylan Moonan also had efforts before the half time whistle.
Into the second half, and Aaron Fleming, who has impressed since joining the club got down the left hand side and crossed for Dom Lawson, who got his shot off on the second attempt to fire in from close range to open his account for the season.
After that the Dolly Blues struggled to break down a stern Matlock defence who were set up for the counter, before more drama late on in the game.
Substitute Lewis Coulton made a challenge, and as the last man received marching orders for the indiscretion, both sides down to 10 players for the last 10 minutes.
As the game ticked over into injury time, a goalmouth scramble led to a corner for the visitors, and it was goalkeeper Rogan Ravenhill who hammered the ball home to take a point home for the Gladiators.
It is a quick turnround for Lancaster, who travel to Mickleover on Bank Holiday Monday.
