Lancaster football star Scott McTominay scored twice as Scotland earned a historic win over Spain in a European Championship qualifier.
The Manchester United midfielder, who grew up in Halton near Lancaster, led the Scots to their first win over the three-time European champions since 1984 on Tuesday night.
McTominay scored a goal in each half to have Hampden Park rocking as Scotland now sit top of their Euro 2024 qualifying group after back-to-back wins.
The first came after seven minutes when McTominay finished with a deflected effort after a pull-back from Andy Robertson.
The second was a sublime low first-time volley after 51 minutes from Kieran Tierney's cross.
The 26-year-old McTominay went to school at St Wilfrid's Primary School in Halton and Our Lady's Catholic College in Lancaster.
As a schoolboy, Scott scored the winning goal for St Wilfrid's in a community cup final at Wembley in 2008.
He has played 138 times for Manchester United, scoring 11 goals, and has 39 caps for Scotland, who he qualified to play for because his father is Scottish.
Spain are one of the Top 10 best international teams in the world and are former world champions, while Scotland are 32 places below them in the FIFA world rankings.
The European football championships take place in Germany in summer 2024.
