Midfielder Harvey Macadam makes Morecambe move

Midfielder Harvey Macadam has joined Morecambe from Fleetwood Town.

The move, on a free transfer with a sell-on clause, and which is subject to EFL approval, sees the 23-year-old leave Highbury after two-and-a-half years and pen a one-year deal with the option of an extra 12 months at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.

In that time, he made 43 appearances for the Cod Army, scoring twice. He also spent four months earlier this year at Town’s sister club Waterford FC in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

Born in Burnley, Macadam played locally and was picked up by Blackburn Rovers’ academy before making the switch to AFC Fylde.

Spells with the likes of Nelson, Ashton United and Longridge Town followed before signing professional terms with Fleetwood Town.

Speaking on his arrival, Macadam said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to get it over the line, I’m really excited. The Gaffer has brought loads of new players in, and I’m delighted to be one of them.

“I’ve loved it [first day], I met all the lads this morning and they’re all welcoming. Training was good, I trained well so I’m pleased with that.

“It’s going to be a massive year for us so pre-season is hugely important to build our minutes up and make sure we’re raring to go come the 10th of August.

“I’m an energetic box-to-box midfield player, I’ll leave blood, sweat and tears on the shirt every time. I’ll give it my all and offer a bit of quality on the ball to create chances for our attacking players.”
