Dave Chisnall suffered heartbreak in an epic second round battle at the PDC World Darts Championship.

Chizzy was knocked out of the showpiece event after a 3-2 defeat in a thrilling match decided only by a final leg tie-break.

Evans, known as 'Rapid' Ricky for his fast throwing, hit double top to win 6-5 in the final set of a see-saw battle.

Earlier, Chisnall had himself missed tops with a dart to win the match.

The world number six made a blistering start to Monday night's clash, winning the first set 3-1 in double-quick time.

But he missed a dart for a two-set lead, and Evans capitalised to level.

'Rapid' Ricky grew in confidence and surged ahead by two sets to one, before Chizzy levelled helped by a sublime 121 finish.

The nip-and-tuck final set was full of drama.

Evans had a chance to win it on the bullseye but hit 25, and Chisnall kept his nerve to peg double eight to make it three legs each.

Then Chizzy broke throw, and had his chance to take the match only to miss double top by a fraction.

Kettering's Ricky still needed 110, but took it out in style and celebrated making it 4-4.

At 5-4 down, the Morecambe man mis-counted with what he thought was a crucial 131 checkout, when he actually needed 139.

Luckily for Chizzy, he still checked out next visit to level at five legs apiece, only for Evans, with the advantage of throwing first, to pinch the decider.

The Paddy Power World Championship, which runs until January 3, has been full of shocks so far, with several other seeded players including former world champions Rob Cross, Gary Anderson and Michael Smith already out.

The favourites to win include reigning champion Luke Humphries, three-time champion Michael van Gerwen and teenage sensation Luke Littler.
