After an early Harvey Macadam drive for the Shrimps was put wide, Ronan Coughlan saw a shot from the inside-right of the box strick the post for the hosts, before Stuart Moore was called into action to deny Danny Mayor after the Fleetwood man picked up the ball in his own half and was allowed to run into the Morecambe area.

Midway through the half, Ben Tollitt worked a cross from the left that was headed against the bar by Jamie Stott.

Town continued to press and hosts opened the scoring on 34 minutes.

A well worked short corner saw Mayor’s cross on the right met with a powerful diving header by Ryan Graydon from close range.

The hosts doubled their lead in first half stoppage time, after Phoenix Patterson’s defence splitting ball was latched on to by Coughlan, who slipped the ball under Moore.

Coughlan doubled the home side's advantage in the third of four added minutes after latching onto a through ball and slotting beyond Moore.

Morecambe made a quadruple change at half time, with a change of shape, opting for a more direct style of play as the Shrimps looked to force their way back into the game.

Adam Lewis saw a fierce strike take a deflection off Brendan Wiredu and behind for a corner, before Town came close to a third on 60 minutes when Kian Harratt brought the ball out and ran at the Morecambe defence his low effort was tipped around the post by Moore.

With fifteen minutes to go the deficit was halved.

An Adam Lewis free kick was flicked on by Jordan Slew into the path of Yann Songo'o who flicked the ball over the home 'keeper and into the back of the net.

The comeback was complete on 86 minutes, and it was three of the substitutes whom combined for the equaliser.

Morecambe bought the ball out from the back, and Jordan Slew lifted the ball down the right channel. Markus Dackers galloped down the flank, where Hallam Hope converted at the near post from close range.

With four minutes of normal time to play, the Shrimps netted an equaliser. The cross came in from the right and Hope made no mistake from close range.
