
Lancaster City staged a fine second half comeback to secure a win over FC Utd of Manchester in the Northern Premier League.
It did not take long for the Dolly Blues to get onto the scoresheet. Dom Lawson cutting out a clearance to Evangelinos, who in turn found Lewis Mansell, making his first start for the club since his move from Atherton Collieries and the new front man found Lawson who had made his way to the edge of the box and fire past FC United goalkeeper Charlie Casper.
He almost followed up with a second two minutes later, but saw his shot from an Aaron Bennett cross blocked.
Adam Le Fondre fired his first warning shot, but his 30 yard effort was well saved by James McClenaghan. His strike partner for the day Jordan Buckley got closer with his first chance of the game, almost turning in Charlie Ennis' low cross into the bottom corner.
The equaliser which had been threatening to come did on 23 minutes, from the foot of Adam Le Fondre, who placed his shot with power, after Guy Hall had played him in.
The Red Rebels were on the hunt for more and as Dec Evans headed the ball forward, Jordan Buckley muscled his way past Harrison Beeden and slotted home to put the hosts in front.
Lancaster City were restricted to long range efforts for the remainder of the half. Including from Aaron Bennett with a couple which were wide.
The second half started and Lancaster City replicated their first half antics and started strongly, piling on the pressure with quick fire corners. Evangelinos had two chances in quick succession, the first saved from distance by Casper and the second one off a flick on from a free kick which went over.
This was shortly followed by Lewis Mansell who blazed over from short range after some neat play to keep the ball and move FC United out of position.
It was on the hour mark that Sam Bailey whipped a cross in and Mansell glances his header past an out stretched Casper and the Dolly Blues were back on an level footing.
Aaron Bennett and Sam Bailey then had further chances which went wide and on 73 minutes the change was made, off came Lewis Mansell and on came Lewis Coulton. It would take 10 minutes for the substitution to be effective.
Dylan Thompson, picking the switched pass by Sloan carried the ball forward and delivered a ball to the back post which Dom Lawson prodded to Coulton who had time to take a touch before sending the FC United goalkeeper the wrong way and the fans into delirium.
The Dolly Blues welcome Guiseley to Giant Axe on Tuesday (October 15), with a 7:45 kick-off.
