Young boxers from Morecambe and Lancaster did themselves proud on an action-packed night for local fight fans.
Coastal Amateur Boxing's show on Saturday night saw victories for several talented up-and-comers, in a series of thrilling and closely-fought contests.
The night at the Red Rose Community Centre in Morecambe began with four 'skills' bouts where the judges did not score. These featured Sonny Higham and James Allison from Coastal.
The first scored bout of the evening saw young Bob Howard from Coastal put on a terrific display of in-and-out boxing to win a well-deserved unanimous decision against Oscar Pietrzak of Blackrod.
Freddie Tyson of Lancaster Boxing Club faced Uthman Patel of Chorley in an exciting contest, with Tyson's come-forward aggression and heavy hooks giving him the nod by split decision.
Billy Thompson of Coastal took some strong punches in the first round against the tough Sean McMyler of Halliwell, but switched tactics to box and move for the final two rounds. Thompson landed some neat one-twos but McMyler's harder punching and fast start saw him win a unanimous decision.
Dahunsi Oduwole of Lancaster lost a unanimous decision to Joe Woodruff of Border City in a close fight which could have gone either way.
Then Coastal favourite Harley Butcher, cheered on by the Morecambe crowd, won a deserved split decision over Albert Gilmore of Moss Side Fire in a toe-to-toe battle full of thrilling exchanges.
The evening ended with Lauclan Savage of MAD Boxing in Morecambe winning a split decision over Elimare Samba Diaw of Fight Factory in another well-fought encounter.
Lancaster professional fighter Walter Fury attended and handed out trophies to the young boxers at the show.
The next Coastal Amateur Boxing show at the Red Rose Community Centre is on Saturday December 14.
