
Residents across South Cumbria gathered on Remembrance Sunday to honour the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces.
Services and gatherings took place in towns and communities throughout the area, with councillors and senior council leaders attending to pay their respects.
In Barrow, nearly 1,000 people joined in remembrance, demonstrating the strength of community spirit throughout the area. Cllr Bill McEwan, Armed Forces Champion for the Barrow area, and Linda Jones, Chief Legal and Monitoring Officer and Lead Officer for the Armed Forces, laid wreaths on behalf of the council.
In Kendal, Cllr Matt Severn, Chair of Westmorland and Furness Council, laid a wreath alongside veteran and council officer Frankie Flannigan. Cllr Vicky Hughes, Armed Forces Champion for the South Lakeland area, attended a service in Burton-in-Kendal, where she also laid a wreath in tribute.
Cllr Matt Severn, Chair of Westmorland and Furness Council, said: “Services held across Westmorland and Furness were a moving testament to our community’s respect and gratitude for the Armed Forces.
