
A bumper series of events for all the family will take place in Lancaster city centre this Christmas.
Not only will this year see the annual Lancaster On Ice rink and the Lancaster Christmas Lights Switch On, but there will be a special festive family event every Sunday in the city centre during the run-up to the big day.
Lancaster BID (Business Improvement District) is organising a series of events called 'Winter in the City' under the 'Love Lancaster, Love Christmas' banner.

It all starts with the lights switchon in Market Square on Sunday November 24, hosted for the fourth consecutive year by Beyond Radio.
The day's festivities will begin with the traditional CancerCare Santa dash followed by a stage show featuring local musicians The Howling Clowns and Tom Woods, and top tribute artists The Ultimate Dua Lipa and Rule The World (Take That) before the Beyond Radio team and Father Christmas switch on the lights to officially begin Lancaster's Christmas period.

Over the same weekend, the Lancaster On Ice rink will open in Dalton Square, organised by the team from The Borough.

Then on Sunday December 1, Reindeer Day will return to Lancaster city centre featuring the Cairngorm reindeer, facepainting and Santa.
On Sunday December 8, BID presents Lancaster's Winter Wonderland as giant show globes parade through the city featuring snow princesses, a giant animatronic snow lion and winter sprites.
On Sunday December 15, Lancaster Music Festival will host a special Christmas event of festive live music in Marketgate and St Nics Arcades shopping centres, and on the Market Square plinth.
Finally on Sunday December 22, Christmas Characters in the City will feature special appearances by The Grinch, winter goblins and a larger than life Elf on the Shelf!
A special Santa's Grotto on a Stagecoach bus will also be open in Lancaster city centre during selected Sundays in December.
Lancaster BID will also run their annual Christmas Toy Appeal to raise funds for charities.
