Mayor to face I'm a Celebrity-style Bushtucker eating trial at Morecambe festival

Chris Mount, Lord Mayor of Bare, with Beyond Bear

A local mayor is preparing to part in a special eating trial based on the hit reality show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.

Chris Mount, Mayor of Bare, is taking part in the challenge to tackle a menu including a lamb's testes to raise money for St John's Hospice in Lancaster.

Local butcher Chris, who works at Bare Butchers and Deli on Princes Crescent, will face the 'Bare Tucker Trial' at Christmas on the Crescent on Saturday November 30.

The mayor's menu includes raw tripe, oyster, raw lamb's heart, raw lamb's liver, chewing a cooked lamb's eye, head on sprats and a lamb's testes, in a similar challenge to those faced by celebrity contestants in the Australian jungle on the ITV series.

Christmas on The Crescent is an annual festive event based in and around Princes Crescent in Bare village, Morecambe.

This year it will include market stalls, children's entertainment, music, food and drink, pet festive fancy dress and a treasure hunt.

There will be two other fundraisers for the hospice on the day, a Bare Village Wall of Hope, and the launch of a new book by local author Tony Kadelbach.

The Bare Tucker Trial is due to start at 2.30pm.

Christmas on the Crescent starts at noon and is organised by Bare Community Association.
