Musical initiative will support North Lancashire’s Citizens Advice

A musical initiative in support of the work done by Citizens Advice North Lancashire kicks off with its first event next week.

‘Music with the Mayor’ promises to be a vibrant celebration of local musical talent for a good cause, with events planned throughout the year, while supporting the work of Citizens Advice in the local community.

The first event in the project is next Saturday (June 22), at Kanteena, and will feature a greatest hits set from local band Hiroshima Twinkie.

The free event will help celebrate the release of a ‘best of’ compilation album entitled ‘Now That’s What I Call Hiroshima Twinkie’.

The band, whose name comes from an episode of Father Ted, feature Lancaster musicians Mike Bannon, Chris Barlow, Dave Beale and Trev Wagstaff, and play original ‘harmonic country-tinged folk rock’.

Chris Barlow said: ‘‘This is a really exciting opportunity to be able to take stock of the music we have created since we started on this journey and we’re really proud of the songs we’ve put together for this release. It was a difficult choice though as our five albums contain sixty-four original compositions, so we’ve chosen at least two from each album and have gone with what seem to be the fan favourites when we play live.

Mike Bannon added: ‘’We’re extra thrilled to have been able to make this a music with the mayor event and to be able to help raise awareness of the good work the Citizen’s Advice team do for people in the area and we are really looking forward to playing this special event and sharing our songs’’.
