'Prisoners' to be locked up in Lancaster Castle for new hospice 'Jail and Bail' fundraiser

Workers are being encouraged to sign up their bosses for a fundraiser where 'prisoners' will be locked up in Lancaster Castle!

St John's Hospice will be holding its first 'Jail and Bail' event for many years on Wednesday, October 30.

The idea is that prisoners will have the day to raise the all important bail money in order to be released.

They will be issued with their prisoner uniform and have their mug shot taken before being imprisoned in A-Wing at the Castle by the event's prison guards. 

They will have access to their laptops and phones to help them raise money, relying on their business contacts, friends and family to reach the £999 bail in order to be free.

"This is your chance to Jail your boss in a real jail cell in Lancaster Castle, where the famous Pendle witches were tried, on Wednesday 30^th October 2024 and do it all for good cause!" said a St John's Hospice spokesperson.

"Has your boss been scheduling meetings over lunch? Avoiding their share of tea making? Nicking all the good biscuits? Dodgy dance moves? Bad jokes?  This is your chance to get your own back! This is a very pantomime like, tongue-in-cheek FUNdraising activity to sign up to! We guarantee whatever your crime you will have fun doing your time!

"They will need to call in all their favours and drive some hard bargains to get support," said a St John's Hospice spokesperson.

"The whole team can get involved as we have found that taking part in fundraising activities together has given teams lots of benefits including team building and an increase in morale. Overall taking part can play a role in your Corporate Social Responsibility ethos too.

"All funds raised from “bail money” will go towards the Hospice, which provides vital care to people and their loved ones who are living with a life limiting illness."

Nominate your boss today and the hospice will contact them about the nomination.

Of course bosses can take the plunge and nominate themselves also.

You also don’t need to be a boss to take part, as all participants are welcome.
